Shady Oaks Country Club

Renowned as the home club of Ben Hogan, Shady Oaks Country Club’s 1958 building was an eclectic mix of southwestern ranch and period interiors. A fire in 2003 rendered the beloved building uninhabitable.

The new building maintains a strong connection to the old building by reusing many salvaged elements from the original. These remnants include walnut and cherry wood doors and wall panels, the entry doors and hardware, and copper exterior column sconces.

At the same time, the fire offered an opportunity to make critical improvements, such as relocating member areas from the lower level to the upper level, where large expanses of glass in the dining and ballroom spaces offer stunning views of the golf course and the Fort Worth skyline. The exterior materials of brick, limestone and wood emphasize the local vernacular along with the interior palette, which employs natural seasonal colors.
